Celebrate the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Brisbane with Festival 2018!

This coming April you can be part of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games here in Brisbane, where FESTIVAL 2018 will extend the festivities out of the Gold Coast and into the city! From the 4th of April to the 15th of April Brisbane will come alive with music, theatre, circus, dance, visual arts and more, providing FREE entertainment and a superb way to be part of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Brisbane.

All events taking place in Brisbane for Festival 2018 are free to attend and suitable for families. Be in Brisbane from the 4th of April to the 15th of April where exciting live entertainment will take over the city, coinciding wit the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, one of the biggest upcoming sporting events in Australia this 2018. Starting off the events on April 6 will be WOW: Women of the World Festival, featuring performances, exhibitions, workshops, markets and more - set to celebrate what it means to be a woman in today’s world over 3 days. Also on April 6 enjoy the words, rhythm, and rhyme of First Nations poets Waverley Stanley Jnr, Leonard Donahue, and Joelle Warkill with ‘First Verse’.

From April 7 catch a number of live music performances from music artists Kev Carmody, Heart Music, Regurgitator, Cheap Fakes, DJ Ben Ely, Haiku Hands, Urthboy, Mihirangi, Electric Fields, The Verandah ChiX, Mau Power, Dave Orr Band, Sabrina Laurie and The Hunting Party, Abbe May, Tales and Ales, BANFF, Golden Vessel, Airling, Blak Friday, Mission Songs Project, Coloured Stone, Skinnyfish Sound Sydtem, Morning Harvey, The Creases, Stella Donnelly, Alex the Astronaut, The Preatures, Jeremy Neale, and Bob Evans - all performing at the Festival Hub in South Bank.

Also not to miss include throughout Festival 2018 include the Male Kiai Mura Buai Dance Company, stand-up comedian Diat Alferink, The Owl and the Pussycat kids’ theatre show, The Village theatre show, 50 Shades of Black comedy show, BNE DESIGN open-air market, Nunukul Yuggera Aboriginal Dancers, stand-up comedian Sean Choolburra, historical dance show Yalu Dad, Revolve ‘circus jazz’ performance, Moving Words workshop, dancer Katina Olsen, and more!
